Amazing videos and presentations created with PowToon-  @PowToon

Engagement!….  I discovered a Web 2.0 tool this week that I had to share.  I encourage you to watch the brief tutorial on the PowToon website before creating your first animated video, however, once you begin your journey, the possibilities are endless.  PowToon generates excitement and motivation in the flipped classroom, harnessing the power of cartoons to explain.

How long should your PowToon video be?

YouTube research shows that the average viewer’s attention span is 63 seconds. This is the time you have to get your message across—and the first 7 seconds are the most crucial!

Research indicates…

  • Best cartoon length: 63-92 seconds
  • Critical start: 7-10 seconds

How many words should your video script have?

Clip Length Number of Words
30 seconds 85
60 seconds 160
90 seconds 230

What to expect!

*  PowToon is free

*  Flipped instruction

*  The finished video can be exported through YouTube, embedded into your website, and shared through social media

*  The site features built in themes, characters, music, text applications, props, and more……

I created a quick animated video for my argumentative essay unit, as a practice run.  I was able to create the video within twenty minutes, which included watching the tutorials.

Thumbs up for this new tool!thumbup
